Our First Best Camera For Nature Photography is Nikon D850. It is one of the best premium DSLR Camera options in the market to shoot Nature. I would not suggest this camera to complete beginners. Instead, I highly recommend it to someone looking for an upgrade.
D850 is known for presenting the best detailed and color-rich photographs. It comes with a 45.7MP FX-Format BSI CMOS Sensor that captures highly crisp and clear image resolution. You get access to its fast processing frame rates and the immediate object tracking system.
With the upgrades, it comes with improved and fast focusing abilities. The AutoFocus is fast and accurate but sometimes creates problems in low-light shooting.
The overall Dynamic Range is Great. It allows you to lift the details in the shadows during post-processing if necessary.
Nikon D850’s Depth Of Field is just mind-blowing. The camera automatically takes a bunch of photos at different focal lengths. Later, it combines those images into a single composite image with the best Depth Possible. Here’s a glitch. It does not connect automatically, but you can use Third-Party Software to do the same.
My favorite element about D850 is the 8K Time-Lapse movies. If you are someone planning to take a time-lapse while shooting Nature. You will also love this beast camera. The camera can also combine your 4K Ultra HD Images to form a perfect Time-Lapse Movie. All thanks to the Built-In Intervalometer that makes the 8K Time Lapses Possible.
Now, we will talk about one of the best Camera features for Nature Photography. The Nikon D850 comes with a Base ISO of 64. It is mighty. At ISO 64, the camera allows the slowest shutter speed possible and helps get silky-smooth photos of Flowing Water. It also gets you a gorgeous smooth tonal range.
This camera’s next premium feature for Nature Photography in Live View Silent Photography. This feature makes the camera use its Electronic Shutter Capability, reducing the Shakes and Vibrations to ZERO.
For capturing Landscapes, You can use the Focus Shift Feature that stops down the lens to a perfect and Sweet Spot and helps you get the max depth of field. I highly suggest using the Live View and a Tripod to get the best Landscape or Nature Shot possible.
One of the best things about the Nikon D850 is its easy-to-learn menu system. If you have some basic knowledge of a DSLR Camera, you will not face any learning curve. The screen is full of information and works responsively.
There are some catches about this camera. Another catch is the lack of built-in Flash. You will have to spend your time and money taking care of this camera.
You might also have to spend some money getting an extra pair of batteries because of their short battery life.
Overall, Nikon D850 is the Best Camera For Nature Photography. It has all the essential features that a camera needs to capture great photographs of Nature.

Our next best camera for nature photography is Nikon D750. It is one of the best FX-Format cameras with rough capabilities and great features at a reasonable price.
The Nikon D750 comes with 24.3MP FX-Format CMOS Sensor. The sensor captures a high-resolution image with smooth color gradations. To be honest, I really like the Low Light Shooting and the ISO Range of 51200.
The Focus and Speed of this Camera are spectacular. You will just fall in love with the AutoFocus Performance. The AF is similar to what the Professional DSLR gives. Irrespective of your photography level, you will feel happy and satisfied.
Coming to the low light performance, the D750 performs really well. At the places where my eyes struggled to see appropriately. This camera just went ahead and captured the best shots possible. It just locks in near darkness.
For Nature Photography, the D750 can shoot any sort of creature. Be it a flying bird, waterfall, or just a simple landscape.
This Nikon Camera comes with a very Sturdy Articulating Screen. You can rotate the screen up to 90 degrees for both up and down.

8. Price | Check on Amazon | Check On BHPhotoVideo |
Our next best Camera for Nature Photography is Canon EOS 6D Mark II. It is one of the Best Mid-Budget Full-Frame Camera By Canon. In my opinion, it has the capabilities of Canon 80D in a Full-Frame Sensor Camera Body.
It comes with a 26.2MP Full-Frame CMOS Sensor known for capturing the best photos even at higher ISOs. 6D Mark II also features Canon’s Dual Pixel AutoFocus system, which is very versatile for nature photography.
The High ISO Photos of 6D Mark II are good, but you might have to make some minor adjustments to make them great.
Coming to the video quality. 6D Mark II can shoot 1080p videos at 60 frames per second. The camera also features 5-Axis Image Stabilizer that allows you to use any lens. And still, take Great Videos without any camera shake. You can also take 4K Time Lapse for short snippets of high-quality time lapses.
One catch is that 6D Mark II can not shoot 4K Videos. It would have been better with 4K videos. But In my opinion, the Canon has tried hard to make it one of the best cameras to take still photos.
In the market, you might hear about the problems with Dynamic Range, but I feel that it is above average.
Canon 6D Mark II comes with the ability to connect with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC. The connectivity helps in the easy photo and video sharing with other smartphones. Features | Description |
---|---|
1. Sensor | 24.5MP FX-Format BSI CMOS Sensor |
2. Processor | EXPEED 6 Image Processing Engine |
3. Video | UHD 4K30 Video |
4. AutoFocus | 273-Point Phase-Detect AF System |
5. Screen | 3.2″ 2.1m-Dot Tilting Touchscreen LCD |
6. Continuous Shooting | 12 fps Shooting |

8. Price | Check on Amazon | Check On BHPhotoVideo |
Our next best camera for nature photography is Nikon Z6. It is one of the best budget alternatives to the Nikon D850. It has got some of the best features and in-hand feels than other cameras.
The Z6 is a mirrorless camera with one of the best build quality on the market. It feels convenient and comfortable even when used for longer hours. I have to say that it has got one of the best weather-sealed bodies. It is something vital for nature photography.
You can also try the Nikon Z7, which is almost double the price of the Z6 for improved Resolution, Sensitivity, and Speed. Or else, if you are looking for a better Low Light Performer with fast performance, then Z6 is the one you should try.
The Controls are easily approachable, and the menu layout is straightforward as other Nikon Cameras. You also get easy customization options that make the camera flexible to use. This makes the learning curve small.
What I don’t like about this camera is the Image Sharpness. The Photos are great but still miss out on some sharpness. To be honest, I was surprised by the quality. I really enjoy shooting in RAW format and tried plugging in JPG Format to see what the in-camera processing can do. I can say that you might not need any third-party software for retouching and adjustments.
The Nikon Z6 also comes with an Articulating Screen that makes it easy to use while taking over the headshot in nature photography.
Thought the Nikon Z6 came with some cons. One of them is Battery Life. When you are recording 4K Videos, you can say goodbye to the battery. A lot of users have experienced a bit of slow AutoFocus. But that is entirely acceptable when you are taking landscape photographs.
Another catch is the Single Memory Card Slot. If you are spending a good amount of money, you will expect at least a dual memory card slot. But the Z6 misses it out. You also have to use pricy Sony XQD memory cards.
Overall, Nikon Z6 is one of the best durable mirrorless cameras for nature photography. You will enjoy its weather-sealed body and firm performance while taking landscapes in Nature.

Talking about AutoFocus, the Fujifilm X-T3 is very quick and accurate, even in low light conditions. The constant focus easily tracks the moving subjects frequently. On the other hand, you might feel some grains or noise while capturing the photos at higher ISOs.
If you are someone planning to create cinematic videos of Nature. X-T3 is the one you should choose. The camera shoots at 4K 60 Frames Per Second, and the quality is mind-blowing.
One of the best things about this camera is its Ease of Use. The camera comes with many Camera Customization. It allows you to set the buttons as per your need. Overall, making the camera easy to use.
Even though the camera is very lightweight, even with the lens and battery grip. It still feels a bit uncomfortable to hold for a long time.
The battery life is ok, but I recommend you get an extra battery (for safety).
The camera comes with some catches. One of them being the less ViewFinder Coverage (85%) and the Cropped Sensor that many of you might not like. Another Catch is the Lack of In-Built Image Stabilization. I would highly recommend using an Image Stabilized Lens for the best shot possible.
Overall, Fujifilm X-T3 is one of the Best Compact Cameras for Nature Photography. You will love its compact size and extraordinary shooting capabilities.

Frequently Asked Questions
This is a never-ending debate for photographers, but there is no simple answer for this. Different photographers have different opinions. Some say, Nikon, some say Canon. To some extent, it depends on your preference. However, an excellent place to start is to learn the various features and differences between the two cameras. That way, you can understand the knowledge to choose and make a better decision.
You can start Wildlife Photography with the Canon EOS 90D. It is a beautiful camera that comes with a lot of features.
Sony A7III is one of the best mirrorless cameras for nature photography. It is totally worth the money and spotted at a sweet spot for people looking to upgrade their cameras.
24 megapixels is enough for landscape photography. However, if you are after the highest image quality, it is always good to go for the largest image sensor possible. If your photos are printed in 4×6 inches size, then 24 megapixels can help you print your photos larger, say 6×10 inches or larger. For example, you can use a 24mp camera to print pictures at 16×24 inches size with good quality. However, if you want to publish your photos more extensively than this, say 20×30 inches or larger, you need more megapixels. If you shoot landscapes and want to blow up your images to a size larger than 20×30 inches, you need a higher megapixel count. For example, to blow up a photo to 24×36 inches, you will need 36 megapixels. In fact, the more megapixels you have, the larger you can blow up the picture and still maintain good quality.
