My Canon Rebel T7 Review 2024

Canon Rebel T7 Thumbnail

Canon Rebel T7, also known as Canon EOS 2000D is known for giving a remarkable performance at a budget-friendly price. For beginners, it comes with easy to use interface and an in-camera guide.

It is a perfect choice for people starting photography as a hobby or who want to learn about DSLRs. No doubt, Canon is known for creating the best cameras that portray real colours and vibrance.

T7 lacks at creating 4K videos and external microphone support. Also, it does not support AutoFocus while recording Videos. Hence, I would not recommend you to use this camera for video recording.

Canon Rebel T7 Photo Features

Being a DSLR for Beginners, you should not expect much from this camera. However, it is a perfect choice for someone learning to use a DSLR or getting into photography as a hobby.

Scene Intelligent Auto Mode
Credits: Canon

Keeping beginners in mind, Canon Rebel T7 has Scene Intelligent Auto mode. It automatically adjusts the camera settings based upon the requirements. Also, the Basic+ and Creative Auto modes help in improving your shots overall.

But, If you are planning to take photos professionally, you will have to compromise.

In short, You get what you pay for.

Sensor

Digic 4+ Image Processor

Canon Rebel T7 uses a 24.1 MegaPixel APS-C CMOS Sensor and Digic 4+ Image Processor. The combination of Sensor and Processor helps you experience fast speed and exceptional image quality.

In my opinion, the sensor is large enough to perform in low lighting conditions. But, on the other hand, the processor works super smooth and refined, ultimately leading to enhanced image quality.

AutoFocus

9 Point AutoFocus System

Now, coming to the AutoFocus system of Canon Rebel T7. You get a 9-point phase-detection AF System along with AI Servo AF that uses a single cross-type point workflow. The combination helps Canon T7 perform great in dim and low lighting conditions.

Even at this price point, you get to see a fast AF System that manages to get all the crisp details for a more extended time.

Overall, you will feel satisfied with the AutoFocus Mechanism in this DSLR Camera.

Shooting Speed

3 Frames Per Second Continous Shooting
Credits: Canon

Now, coming to the shooting speed of Canon Rebel T7. You can shoot up to 3 frames per second at 24 megapixels for up to 150 continuous shots. Or, on the other hand, you can shoot up to 11 Frames RAW.

Even though it is not the fastest, it is still acceptable at this price point.

Image Stabilization

One of the things I hate about the Canon Rebel T7 is not having an in-built Image Stabilization feature. If you are a user of IS, I highly recommend you choose a lens that offers image stabilization mode.

That’s one of the reasons I don’t recommend Canon T7 for professional or intermediate photographers.

Exposure

Now, talk about the Exposure and ISO Settings of Canon Rebel T7. You get an ISO range of 100 to 6400 that is expandable to 100 to 12800. It is more than average and helps you get clean shots in low lights.

You can use the predefined options like Scene Intelligent Auto, Flash Off, Creative Auto, Portrait, Landscape, Close-Up, Sports, Food, and Night Portrait.

Canon Rebel T7 Video Features

We’ll talk about the Video Quality of the Canon Rebel T7 Review 2024.

To be honest, T7 is not made for video. Even though you can record Full HD video of up to 29 Frames Per Second, the quality is not up to the mark.

If your sole purpose is to record videos, you should try out other options in the market.

4K Video

Canon T7 does not support 4K video recording. However, it is totally acceptable in terms of the price you pay. Even though a 4K Recording capacity would be a great feature if present.

Full HD Videos

You can easily record Full HD Videos of (1920 X 1080) at 24.00p/25p/29.97 frames per second. However, there are a couple of video recording features that Canon T7 lacks.

Starting with the no external mic support. So if you plan to record videos for YouTube or social media, you will have to survive with the grainy audio recorded by this camera.

Another thing is the lack of AutoFocus functionality while recording videos. As a result, throughout the video, you will have to struggle to get the camera to focus on the subject.

Vlogging

If you plan to record Vlogs with Canon Rebel T7, then it is a big NO from my side. I would highly suggest you go with some other options in the market than using T7.

You don’t get AutoFocus while recording videos, no external mic support that results in grainy audio. Overall, it is not a great camera to record vlogs.

Audio

Canon Rebel T7 does not come with external mic support. So you will have to survive with the internal microphone that records very grainy audio. In my opinion, Canon should have given external mic support for a better experience.

Canon Rebel T7 Physical Features

Now, We’ll talk about the Physical Features from the Canon Rebel T7 Review 2022. Canon T7 is a perfectly sized camera with a perfectly balanced weight and size.

Overall, the camera does not feel heavy or uncomfortable at all. Also, the body is designed with the perfect material and looks a slight premium too.

Portability

Canon Rebel T7 lies in the sweet spot of not too big and small. The perfect balance of Weight and Size makes it portable and easy to carry while travelling. For your information, it has a dimension of 5.1 x 4 x 3.1 inches (W x H x D).

Weight

Canon Rebel T7 weighs just 1.05 lbs or 475 grams. It is one of the perfect weight spots and comes under one of the lightest DSLR cameras in the market for a DSLR camera. The lightweight makes it one of the best picks for frequent travellers.

Build Quality

Canon is known for creating long term reliable cameras, and the same goes with Canon Rebel T7. It offers you a comfortable and robust feel while gripping. In fact, the Build Quality is one of the reasons I love using T7.

Ergonomics & Comfort

Canon Rebel T7 will give you a perfect ergonomics experience. Everything on this Camera is perfectly aligned. The menu system on the right is convenient and helps you operate faster. The screen is fixed and offers a convenient view of the photos taken.

Overall, I would like to appreciate the efforts made by Canon to make this camera a wonder for beginners.

On-Board Feature Guide

The Canon Rebel T7 Menu system lies on the right with all the other DSLRs. Being a beginner DSLR camera, Canon has tried hard to make the system easier to use. The Auto Mode handles everything, and you can entirely rely on it as a beginner.

Overall, the whole camera is easy to use for non-techies. And, as I said earlier, the T7 is one of the best cameras to learn photography and DSLRs.

Viewfinder

95% Coverage Viewfinder
Credits: Canon

Canon Rebel T7 uses an Optical Viewfinder with 95% Coverage. It offers a crystal clear view of what the lens is watching. You can take advantage of its viewfinder to take stabilized photos. You also get to see the Viewfinder Magnification of Approx. 0.8x.

Canon Rebel T7 Extra Features

Now, I’ll share some extra and essential features in the Canon Rebel T7.

Screen

Canon T7 Screen

Canon Rebel T7 comes with a 3-inches 920k-Dot LCD Screen. It allows you to play with the camera settings using the buttons present on the side. Also, you can use it as a viewfinder to take better shots.

You can’t get a touch or flippable screen, but at this price point and level, you will have to compromise a bit. But, overall, you will love using the screen while taking shots.

Battery Life

With Canon Rebel T7, you can take 600 Shots in one full battery charge. To be honest, you will never feel short on battery. As a beginner photographer, 600 shots are a lot, and you can rely on a single battery until you gain some experience.

Connectivity

Canon Rebel T7 comes with Wi-Fi and NFC. It allows you to pair your DSLR with your mobile and share Data instantly.

Another good thing about T7 is that you can use Wi-Fi connectivity and control your DSLR with your mobile phone.

Review Summary

Overall, Canon Rebel T7 or Canon EOS 2000D is one of the best DSLR Cameras for beginners. And, if you are someone planning to start photography as a hobby or want to learn about How DSLRs function, then it is the best camera to start.

Even though it lacks some features, the price compensates for everything. However, you might accept that this camera will not record good quality video and audio. Also, the fixed screen might not give you convenience compared to what a flip screen shows.

Now, this Canon Rebel T7 Review has come to an end. I am sure that you are well aware of where Canon T7 stands in the market by this section. I have tried my best to give the most honest and in-depth opinion.
