Canon T7 Vs T8i: Photo Quality

Sensor

Talking about the Sensor, both Canon T7 and T8i get 24.1 Megapixel APS-C CMOS Sensor. The big difference comes from the processor. The Canon Rebel T7 comes with Digic 4+ Image Processor, and on the other hand, Canon Rebel T8i comes with Digic 8 Image Processor

With this difference in processor, you will see improved performance of T8i over T7.

Autofocus

For obvious reasons, Canon T8i has a better overall autofocus system than Canon T7. In Canon T7, you get a Single Center Cross-Type Autofocus system that works with complete accuracy and speed. This AF System works on 9 Points.

On the other hand, Canon T8i has Dual Pixel CMOS AutoFocus System that works with a 45-Point All Cross-Type Phase Detection. You also get the Eye Detection capacity for better performance.

Overall, you will love the autofocus system of Canon T8i over Canon T7.

Image Stabilization

Unfortunately, neither of the cameras supports in-built Image Stabilization, even though you can look for the lens option that comes with Image Stabilization.

Shooting Speed

Canon Rebel T8i is a clear-cut winner for the continuous speed test. It can capture up to 7 Frames Per Second for up to 40 Frames in RAW format and 170 Frames in JPEG Format.

On the other hand, Canon T7 can capture only 3 Frames Per Second up to 11 Frames in RAW Format and 150 Frames In JPEG Format.

Exposure

Now we will talk about the exposure controls in Canon T7 and T8i. In Canon T7, you get the ISO Range of 100 to 6400 that can be extended to 100 to 12800.

On the other hand, Canon T8i has an ISO Range of 100 to 25600 that can be extended from 100 to 51200.

Also, the low-light performance of the Canon T8i is slightly better than the Canon T7.

Canon T7 Vs T8i: Video Quality

4K Video

Only Canon T8i supports 4K Video Recording at 24 Frames Per Second. On the other hand, Canon T7 does not support 4K Video. This could be a big reason why you might love to shift your focus from T7 to T8i.

Full HD Videos

Canon T8i can record Full HD Videos (1920 x 1080) at 60 Frames Per Second. On the other hand, Canon T7 can record Full HD Videos (1920 x 1080) at up to 30 Frames Per Second.

Vlogging

Canon Rebel T7 is not a good choice for Videos. It can only record Full HD Videos at up to 30 Frames Per Second. Also, the overall AutoFocus, Stabilization, and Quality are not up to the mark.

On the other hand, Canon Rebel T8i can record 4K Videos at 24 Frames Per Second. You also get to see better AutoFocus, Stabilization, and Quality Improvements.

Overall, Canon T8i would be a better choice for Vlogging.

Audio

Canon T7 has an in-built microphone setup that records a bit grainy audio. And, the worst thing about this camera is that you can’t attach an external microphone.

On the other hand, Canon T8i has a better in-built microphone setup. It also allows you to attach an external microphone via a 3.5mm jack.

This feature plays a significant role in creating a YouTube video or recording a podcast

Canon T7 Vs T8i: Features

Screen

Canon Rebel T7 comes with a fixed 3 inches screen. The screen has 920,000 DOT LCD that can not be operated via touch. On the other hand, Canon Rebel T8i comes with a 3-inches Fully Articulating Touch Screen. On T8i, you get a 10,40,000 DOT Screen that can be operated via touch.

The touch screen makes it easier to operate the camera and helps adjust various camera settings.

Weight

Canon T7 weighs 1.05 lbs or 475 grams, and T8i weighs 1.13 lbs or 515 grams. This weight includes only the body, battery, and memory card. Canon T7 is lighter than T8i by 40 grams in terms of weight.

In my opinion, the difference is not much, and it could be justified in terms of additional features you get in the T8i.

Battery Life

In Canon Rebel T7, you get a 1 x LP-E10 Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery that works on 860 mAh power. You can click approximately 600 shots with one full charge.

In Canon Rebel T8i, you get a 1 x LP-E17 Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery that works on 1040 mAh power. With this battery setup, you can click approximately 1240 Shots.

You get almost double battery life in the Canon T8i than the T7.

Connectivity

In Canon Rebel T7, you get built-in Wi-Fi and NFC Setup. On the other hand, Canon T8i missed out on the NFC and came with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The need depends on the user. Both cameras give you a great experience sharing your photos with other devices. In my opinion, it will not make a big difference.
